Yeah urgent care sucks. I went and checked in at the information booth and was sent to urgent care because that was the best they could do for me by 1pm. So I took it because the pain in my ear was getting worse.
It took me about 30 minutes before my name was called to get papers to fill out about family history and personal history (i.e have I ever had cancer, liver disease, alcoholism? -no to all). After that it was another 20-30 minutes before a nurse called me back to take my vitals. I didn't think it would be too long after that before I got called back to see the doctor.
But it was. I sat through an entire episode of 'General Hospital' they had playing and went into the talk show on after before I was called to see a doctor. Over an hour to see a doctor. Then when they called me, it was 15 minutes before he came in the room.
So when he finally came in, he asked what the receptionist asked me when I went to fill out the paperwork, "How are you doing today?", to which I respond "Not so good", obviously...why else would I be there? For fun? So he asked me some questions, which he could of found out himself if he read my chart. But no, he wanted to ask me himself, and he spoke softly, or at least it was soft to me, and then he said "Oh I'm sorry. You can't hear me very well can you?" and I was like "No, I can't". And he looked at my throat and listened to me breathe and was like "Well you don't have strep throat. I'll look at your ears now". No doctor I don't have strep doctor, I have an ear infection and I know it and I want my prescription so I can go get my drugs and start to feel better. Then he told me the drug he was giving me and it was what I was expecting.
That long of a wait sucked. I was in the waiting room in tears because I was in so much pain, but I have a low threshold for pain so, it doesn't take much. And when the doctor asked me to tell him what was wrong I said it sad and pitifully, in hopes he felt bad about taking so long to come in. I don't think it made much of a difference though.
Oh and one more thing, why was everyone so cheerful? The receptionist said "How are you today?" Me: 'Not good' Receptionist: "I'm sorry honey". Then there was that whole issue with doctor asking that. Then in the pharmacy, the woman I gave my slip to was like "How are you today? *looks at prescription* Oh not so good I see" and then she went on to ask if I had ever been there before and I said no, so she wrote 'New' on my slip. And looked at my info and said "Oh! Your birthday is coming up! How exciting!" Yes. It is thrilling. Just give me my drugs now. I know, they are just trying to be nice and kind, and they were, but when you feel rotten, their cheerful attitudes are kind of annoying.
So the lesson of the day here kids is this- If you decide to get sick, do it at a convienent time, and call ahead with appointments. None of this sudden illness stuff. Otherwise you will spend 2 1/2 hours of your life surrounded by people with all sorts of other germs which you might catch just sitting there. Yuck.

Sick =(
Being sick is no fun in any way. Even less so when you are not near home so that someone can take care of you.

Saturday morning, lucky me, I woke up with a sore throat. It wasn't fun. I called Mom and asked what to take and she said just whatever tylenol product I have, so I took 2 Big Lots brand tylenol and hoped for the best. It did nothing, other than give me a headache, so 6 hours after taking that, I took 2 more, but got another headache. I eventually took a Nyquil pill and went to bed.

Sunday, I woke up to an even worse sore throat and headache. So I opted for Dayquil pills, and it helped some, but the head still hurt pretty bad. But at least I felt good enough to go over and buy myself some juice, which I hadn't felt like doing on Saturday.
Yesterday, I got up and still had a sore throat. Mom and Dad said if it still hurt by Monday to maybe go to the student health center to find out if I had something other than a cold. At this point my ear felt kind of funny, but I didn't notice much and I figured I'd go see what was going on after my classes. I wasn't sure if I had had a fever before, but yesterday, I assumed I had because I was just putting on my shoes for class and felt kind of sweaty. My friend in Stats felt my cheek and said I was definately warmer, so I needed to see a doctor. I went to my 2nd class anyway to get my midterm back (A- in case you were wondering. Not bad considering I couldn't focus on studying because I was too excited for 'Grey's Anatomy' to come on). My friend took me to the health center after class and I waited for 2 1/2 hours (more on that in another post) for them to tell me that I have a middle ear infection.

So now, I am unable to hear so good in my left ear. It's what we refer to as having a "fluffy ear" in my household. Not so fun and I have some nice yellow and maroon pills to take 3 times a day for 10 days

It's cold...
And when it's cold, I feel like nesting. Therefore right now, I have the urge to bake and read and knitt. I can only read. I guess I could make muffins, but I don't want to make that because all I would be doing is added water to mix and putting it in the muffin tin to bake. Not much to that. Then with the whole knitting thing, I have issues with that. I started Christmas break my senior year of high school and I messed it up somehow (I think...it didn't look quite right) and never got the person teaching me how to fix it. Plus now that it has been over a year, I have forgotten how to do the stitches (I was doing regular and purling at the same time) and all that so I'd be better off starting all over and no one around here knows how to do it. So I have taken to my bed, hoping to get warmer, but so far am failing horribly.

Weekend update
My weekend was spent was this man:

Oh I wish I was actually in his presence. That would be great. However I did spend pretty much my entire weekend watching 'Grey's Anatomy' in my room. As it happened, this was apparently the weekend to go home, I just didn't get the memo. With all friends at UCSD home, the few friends I have at SDSU gone, and 2 of my 3 roommates, it made for somewhat of a lonely weekend. Although Emily was still here, she had some high schoolers that she knows from home visiting and checking out schools in the area. Along with that, they went out to the beach and stuff, so I was basically alone in the apt. for the weekend.
After last Thursday's cliffhanging episode of 'Grey's', I was suddenly urged to watch the bomb episode, which took place last year at this time, and the season finale, because Dylan (guy blown up by bomb) and Denny (who can forget him)were back at the end of Thursday's episode. So on Friday, I watched Thursday's episode again online (I had missed the beginning since I came back later than I thought from something with my friend). Then I went about and watched other things, until about 9pm when I decided to watch 'Pride and Prejudice' on Tricia's tv/dvd player in our room. After that I was kind of tired but stayed awake anyway and popped in GA season 1, disc 1, set the tv on the sleep timer after I watched 2 full episodes and fell asleep with it going.
On Saturday, I rolled out of bed around 11:45 am and got right in the shower. At one point that morning I woke up and thought it had been 4pm since it was light out, but I figured if it were 4pm, Emily would of come in to see if I was alive by then. Well I could hope at least...But even if it was 4pm, it obviously didn't bother me to go back to sleep. Then I ate some lunch and watched a little real tv, then spent the rest of my time watching GA. To watch dinner I also watched real tv..and American Idol Rewind at 8 and 'What a Girl Wants' after that. Then it was back to my room for GA. I talked online to my friends, but was watching the dvds at the same time, this time I was watching season 2. I took a brief break for an hour for an episode of 'Gilmore Girls', but then returned to GA. I stayed up til about 4am watching it.
Sunday, I roll out of bed about 11:30, got dressed and got some food and then retired to my computer to work and watch GA. I stopped for awhile to watch 2 hours of 'Gilmore Girls', ate dinner, then 3 more hours of GA. Then I watched 'Desperate Housewives' and 'Brothers and Sisters'. I had my homework done earlier and helped Emily with hers (we have the same class). Then to end my weekend, I watched the season 2 finale of GA and went to sleep.
Some might try and argue that I have no life, and it's probably true. But let me just say this-what a great weekend that was. I didn't have much to do anyway so just doing whatever I felt like was great. So don't judge me for not leaving my apartment and getting lots of fresh air. I opened my window for a while...but it was too cold out and ended up raining later. So sure, go ahead and thing 'what a pathetic girl', but I don't care. It was a great weekend and I like having the room to myself to watch dvds all night if I want to.

Why are you calling me????
So the last two mornings I have gotten phone calls from someone in the 425 area code. Where is the 425 you ask? Well after checking the phone book in my apartment, I found that it is Everett, Washington.
I don't know anyone in Washington. Well I take that back, I do, but seeing as how it's a friend of my mom's and that isn't her area code and she wouldn't be calling me anyway.
Whoever it is, they are consistant. Yesterday they called at 8:47am when I was in class and today they called at 8:49am, waking me up an hour before I actually had to be up and I couldn't go back to sleep after that.
My theory is that it is someone from GE Money Bank. See my entire winter break, someone would call everyday that neither parent was home and they wanted to talk to them, not me. And each day, they called earlier and earlier, until they were calling at about 8:45/9am every day. I told them to stop calling and they didn't take the hint for a while. Then one day I was rude and told them to stop calling because we didn't need them. We had a bank and were not going to need their services and they call every day and bother me so please quit calling! Now I think they are taking revenge upon me by either bugging me in class (good thing it was on vibrate) or waking me up much earlier than I need to be.
Another thing, last night at 1:40am a restricted number called my phone. Of course hearing the phone ring at 1:40am is kind of scary because you think "What's wrong?" and immediately think of things that could be wrong. But looking at the screen that says the number is restricted and you realize that it's a wrong number-not cool. It woke up myself and my roommate because the phone was on high so I would hear my alarm when it went off and it wasn't even anyone I knew, because if it was, they would of 1. not had their number blocked and 2. left a message.
But anyway I hope the calls quit. I don't need the phone going off in class or waking me up prematurely. I shake my fist at whoever wakes me up for a wrong number or trying to sell me something! *shakes fist*
By the way, if you get a wrong number one day, why would you call it back the next day?

I'm getting edumacated
You: Hey Amy, what did you do in school today?
Me: Oh not much. Listened to teachers talk about stupid stuff I already know, took some notes, made a paper airplane and have a competition flying them because the teacher told us to...you know, the usual.
You: Wait, you made a paper airplane? In a college class?
My teacher had us make paper airplanes today and then have the teams compete as to who's model like flew best and such....No this isnt elementary school. I know it's confusing since we are making paper airplanes and all but apparently this is college..Weird thing is, it was my ids class where we sit and talk about IT stuff all the time

Heartbreaking
I don't cry at "American Idol" or at least not usually. I don't remember doing it anyway. But on Wednesday's episode of LA auditions, this man really broke my little heart and just listening to his story and the song, I found myself sitting on the couch crying. Just watch and you can see for yourself why, in case you haven't seen it already...
