Oh yes. I went back. I didn't want to do it, but this is ridiculous. See, I finished my lovely amoxicilin on Thursday (my birthday gift to myself), but Friday and Saturday my throat was kind of stratchy. I thought it was because it was suddenly very hot. No. Sunday I had a very sore throat..I just took some dayquil and the pain was dulled some.
Yesterday, it was very painful still, but I decided to see what happened when I got up this morning. It still hurt. But I haven't found anything that can soothe it. I tried hot tea, dayquil, gargling warm salt water, cough drops..none of that. NO FUN!!!!!
So today I went back to my apt. after class and grabbed a new bottle of water and my empty prescription bottle just in case and went back to the health center. Of course all that is available is urgent care, my favorite. I sat so I was facing the clock, which was hard since there were lots of other sick people. Plus it was lunch time for the doctors so it was reallllllly slow. I got in there at 12:40. After an hour they called my name to 1. check my ID and 2. ask if the address they had for me was current. I considered saying "NO I haven't moved in the 2 weeks since I was last here" but was nice and didn't. Then not too much longer after, a nurse came and took me to a room to take my temp and blood pressure. I guess they made a note that I don't do so well with machine blood pressure things, since he just put the thing on my arm and manually did it. Then I was sent back to the waiting room.
I had to stand for a while this time as all seats were being taken by fellow students. At 3 they came to get me and took me to a room and asked me to take my shirt off and replace it with a lovely paper shirt. Then I sat in the room feeling a draft, and read my book for 20 minutes before a doctor came in. I told her the same thing I told the info booth and nurse. She checked my ears and throat, but said she only saw that it was a little red. I explained that I had taken all sorts of things but nothing was soothing my pain. So she took a throat culture (NOT fun) and wrote me a prescription for....LIDOCAINE!
Yeah that stuff they give you at the dentist's office..I'm supposed to gargle a tablespoon every 4-6 hours and I can swallow a small amount but not too much apparently. Sounds simple, but this stuff has the consistancy of honey...try to gargle that...it wouldn't slide off my tongue so at the moment, my tongue is numb but not my throat. And I can't eat for an hour which sucks since I didn't really eat much for lunch. Soon though....and I have to figure out a new approach come like 8pm when I am to take this stuff again...if only I could dilute it with water to make it a little easier...
But anyway I am tired of not feeling well and not being able to swallow stuff and all that. I need to like get over this. My body is just breaking down..the 19 year lease is up. Time for a new one I guess. But this I am having such a hard time getting over this...So starts week 3 of not being well...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
Yay! I'm 19 now (as of Thursday)! Didn't do too much...went to my 3 classes that I pretty much hate, came back here and got phone calls and messages. Then after she got back from class, Cayla and I went to a nail place near us and she got a manicure and I got a pedicure.

I too would of gotten a manicure, but I wanted a French manicure and that place never just paints it on my natural nails...Instead they glue fake ones on. Anyone that knows me understands that my nails are long enough as is, so I don't want or need fake nails. After we got back from getting our nails done, we watched 'Gilmore Girls' on tv and then went to BJ's for dinner and a birthday pizookie! So good!

We also rented "The Quiet" and watched that after dinner. It was a nice day. Then I went home for a nice weekend of shopping and relaxing.

Early Birthday Dinner
Cyndi was down yesterday to do laundry and such at her mom's and invited me to go to dinner with them. We went to Buca di Beppo's in Mira Mesa.

We waited a long time for dinner, but eventually got seated. We had a very interesting waiter. He was singing along with the music being played on the speakers, made some jokes, danced when he was at the register getting our bill..Yes quite the entertaining server. Apparently Cyndi told him it was my birthday so when we ordered dessert, their new Apple Crostata, he came with a candle in a candle holder, and got like 4 or 5 other guys to come sing to me. Continuing with being an entertaining waiter, he even worked the birthday song. See the other waiters sang "Happy Birthday to you" and he pounded the table with his hands and would call out "TO AMY!!!!!!!!!!!!" Never seen that done before, but whatever. What are the chances of me being sung to by like 5 or 6 guys again?

We had a good time and of course, good food!

Youtube is awesome
Youtube is a great place. You can find pretty much anything on there and sometimes you find things that are really cool. Take for instance what I have come across. There is a high school show choir that have a lot of videos on there and they are really amazing. I came across them searching for "Beauty and the Beast" on Broadway stuff. They did one of my favorite songs from the Broadway production twice. Once in 1997 and again in 2000. In my opinion they stuck to the original more in 1997, but 2000 they were wonderful. So, I have a video of someone performing the song "If I Can't Love Her" in a stage production of "Beauty and the Beast" and then the 1997 and 2000 performance by this choir. I suggest you go and look at some more of their stuff. I think they are really good.
