Friday morning I got up way earlier than I wanted to, packed the car and headed for SD since I had a 10am appointment to sign my lease. Mom and I drove down and got there around 9:40. We made a stop at the old apartment first, said hi to Cayla, who has been there all summer, then examined the cable box and what to unplug but ended up not taking it right then. We went to the new place, gave them the first month's rent, signed the papers and got my door key and gate key (which is just a card that you tap on the security plate..it didnt work for the front gate and my key doesn't fit in the lock for the front gate, so I guess I should hope it works for the underground parking so I can use it and get in there if I go out and return after 5pm). After getting the key, we went upstairs to check the place out.
At like 10:40ish, we went back to my old place to take the cable box away from Cayla. We took up the new tv stand and my tv as well as a screwdriver to put the tv stand together. Almost as soon as we sat down to look at all the stuff they had given me when I signed my papers, the cable guy came. May I just say he was a moron. He didn't listen to anything I said to him. First he asked where I wanted my internet line. I said I'd put mine out in the living room for now, but I wasn't sure where my other line should go for my roommate. And he kept saying "Well if your roommate wants cable, then I'd suggest that you guys split the bill for internet and get a router." I was like "We were already going to split the bill, so what about her line?" And he just kept saying that I'd have to look into routers and then have them come back and install it. Um in the old place Cox was prepared for this and had routers for one and two bedroom places. Then this guy called on his phone or whatever and then asked me for my email address and I told him.
He was like "No. What is your Cox email account?"
Me: "I don't have one"
Him: "Well Cox is your internet provider so you have to have one."
Me: "I don't think so. Cox was my internet provider this last year and not once did I have to get an email account with them. I still used AOL"
Him: "Well now you have to pay for AOL. So I'd say call AOL and ask them what your options are."
Me: "I don't have to pay for AOL. I don't need a Cox account. It will just be wasted because I can tell you now I will never use it."
Him: "Well you have to have it. So what do you want it to be? Same as your other one?"
Me: "Fine"
Him: "Oh and you have to pay for the modem, its $79 over 3 months. Is that ok?"
Me: "I need interent so fine."
Him: "Ok. Should I set Cox to be your homepage?"
Me: "No"
Him: "Ok, well I'll just show you how to get onto their website and sign into your mail account."
Me: "I have paid my bill online before. I know how to get to their site and how to sign into email. I'm not stupid"
Him: "Ok. Well I guess that's it. *shows me the box to the modem where he wrote down my Cox address* Do you need me to leave this so you remember what it is?"
Me: "No, I think I can remember the email if it;s the same as the one I already have"
He finally left. Good riddence. I hope I never have to deal with this guy again. I told him like at least 3 times that I had a roommate and I know she will need the internet and that I would need another line. Ugh. I wanted to scream at him. I was practically in angry tears dealing with this guy. I was reallly wishig I had my father or brothers with me to deal with this guy.
Once that r-tard was gone we went and grabbed some lunch, went to the old place and grabbed some more stuff and Cayla, then went to school so I could pay my fees. As there was no room in the car really but the front seat, Cayla and I shared, and when a cop came I like leaned over and put head like in mom's lap and we didn't get caught. We got to the new place and unloaded the car, well Cayla and I did. We got hot and sweaty doing it so when we were done we laid out on the floor and watched my tv that was sitting on the floor, as the tv stand wasn't fully assembled yet. After that we went back to the old place and cleaned up a little, then went out to dinner at Chevy's.
After dinner, we went back to the old place. There was no cable box, but the dvd player still worked so we watched "Now and Then" and Cayla painted my nails. I dozed a little during the movie, but was awake for most of it. After the movie, Mom went to bed and Cayla and I stayed up longer to talk and bond as our last night as roomies. We finally got around to going to bed and I slept in my bed down there one last time.
The next morning, Mom and I got up, went to buy some carpet cleaner and grabbed a muffin at Vons and coffee from Starbucks next door. We then stopped off at the new place so I could pick up some cables I brought for the tv that weren't needed and we went back to the old place. We then spent the next few hours cleaning everything in the apartment. Around 12:30, Cayla had to go somewhere so I said goodbye for now and finished taking the last of my stuff to the car. Once it was loaded I went and returned my keys to the office.

Empty bedroom...

Last shot of the door...sad
We left and went to the new place and unloaded the last of the stuff and waited for the bed to arrive. Once that happened, we hit the road back to Alhambra. I know that I will definitely miss my old place. I had good times there and hope that the new place will make me happy as well.
